Plagiarism Policy
Journal of Contemporary Economic Dynamics (JCED) is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and original scholarship. Plagiarism in any form—including direct copying, paraphrasing without proper credit, self-plagiarism, and data fabrication—is strictly prohibited and considered a severe breach of publication ethics.
1. Plagiarism Screening Workflow
Every submitted manuscript is screened for similarity using industry-standard plagiarism detection software (such as Turnitin or iThenticate) before entering the peer-review process.
Similarity Thresholds:
- Overall Similarity Index: Must not exceed 20% (excluding references and standard quoted phrases).
- Single-Source Overlap: Similarity with any single published source must not exceed 3% - 5%.
2. Editorial Actions and Decisions
- Minor Overlap (≤ 20%): If isolated sentences or definitions lack proper citation, the editor will return the manuscript to the author for revision and proper referencing prior to peer review.
- Moderate Overlap (21% – 30%): The manuscript will be returned to the authors for substantial paraphrasing, revision, and resubmission.
- Severe Plagiarism (> 30% or extensive copying): The manuscript will be immediately rejected (desk reject) without review. The corresponding author and co-authors may face submission restrictions for subsequent issues.
3. Post-Publication Detection
If plagiarism or unacknowledged overlap is proven in an article after publication, the editorial board will follow the official COPE Guidelines. Corrective action will be executed, which may result in issuing a formal correction (corrigendum) or a complete retraction of the paper accompanied by an official retraction note.
